For those of you whose goal is administration at a community college or four-year school, Western’s Department of Educational Leadership and Foundations has a range of programs to suit your needs and ambitions.

Our adult-friendly courses use flexible scheduling and a range of delivery modes to meet the needs of working professionals. Face-to-face classes in Cullowhee and Asheville during evenings and weekends, Interactive Television sites located at community colleges, asynchronous Internet-based courses, and hybrid courses are all designed to deliver you the classes you need when you need them.

M.A.Ed. in Community College Teaching: Western Carolina is not offering this degree at this time.  

M.A.Ed. in Community College Administration: When you’re ready for a mid-to-upper-level leadership position at a community college, WCU's Master of Education (M.A.Ed.) in Community College Administration is convenient, student-centered, and focused, and it’s designed for future deans, department chairs, program directors, curriculum specialists, and program evaluators or those who plan to seek a doctoral degree and senior-level administrative positions.

Ed.D. Degree: If you’re already a senior-level administrator in a community college, the Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree prepares you for advanced administrative leadership.

M.Ed. in College Student Personnel: Consider joining one of the fastest-growing areas of higher education, student affairs. The M.Ed. in College Student Personnel is designed to meet the guidelines established by the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS) programs.
